Community Guidelines
Last updated: January 2026
Our mission is to bring people over 50 together through genuine conversation, welcoming experiences, and meaningful dinners.
To make this possible, we're committed to creating an environment where every member feels safe, respected, and welcomed.
These Community Guidelines outline how we expect all members to behave when engaging with our platform and attending our meetups. Our team uses a combination of technology and human review to ensure a safe and positive experience, but we also rely on our community to uphold these standards.
Violations of these guidelines may result in warnings, account restrictions, removal from future meetups, or, in severe cases, contacting relevant authorities.
If you witness or experience a breach of these guidelines, please report it immediately. Your safety is our priority.
Before the Meetup
Communication: To preserve the excitement of meeting new people, we don't facilitate pre-meetup contact.
Safety: Let a trusted friend or family member know about your plans to attend. Share the venue location and your expected arrival time. This adds a layer of precaution, and it will help you feel calmer as well.
Preparation: Arrive with a positive attitude and an open mind. Review the restaurant's menu online if available to familiarize yourself with the options and ensure they work for your dietary needs.
During the Meetup
Arrival Time: Please arrive on time out of respect for others at your table as well as the restaurant. Remember that last-minute cancellations or no-shows significantly affect everyone's experience.
Splitting the Bill: Everyone pays for what they ordered. When ordering, please remember what you ordered. We generally don't recommend ordering dishes "for the table" as many restaurants struggle to split these properly on the bill.
Dietary Needs: Communicate any dietary restrictions or allergies to the wait staff. Please double-check with staff to ensure no allergens are present in your food.
Behavior:
Embrace diversity. Everyone has different thoughts, views, and life experiences. Be curious and open-minded.
Engage in respectful and inclusive conversation. Be mindful of sensitive topics that may cause discomfort (such as controversial political views or inappropriate humor).
There's no pressure to stay longer than you're comfortable with. Feel free to leave whenever feels right for you.
Personal Safety:
Keep your drink and personal belongings within sight at all times.
Be mindful of your alcohol intake to stay clear-headed and in control.
After the Meetup
Continued Interaction:
After dinner, you can select who you'd like to stay in touch with. If it's mutual, we'll share contact details.
Share personal information only with those you trust.
Safety:
Never transfer money or share financial information with anyone you've met through our platform.
If you experience any suspicious or inappropriate behavior, report it immediately to info@NiceToMeet.com.
Transportation:
Don't drive if you've consumed alcohol or anything that could impair your ability to drive safely. Use taxis, rideshares, or public transport.
Don't accept rides from anyone who is under the influence.
